(SanDiego.CityRegions.Com, June 17, 2015 ) Santee, CA -- Survivalhax.com announces the Survival Water Filter right as camping season begins to ramp up.
In 2006 Andy Grossman and his wife Kristen were camping in the hills surrounding Woods Lake, Colorado. Both seasoned hikers had more than 40 years of camping experience between them. On their last day of hiking, Andy severely sprained his ankle, which made it nearly impossible to trek back to base camp.
The couple decided to hunker down for the night, only to realize they wouldn't have enough water to last them until morning, let alone the hike back. They had two options. Kristen could hike back to camp while it was getting dark, and attempt to bring back enough water to sustain the couple for the night, or she could attempt to boil nearby run off with the portable tin they carried. The campers decided on option 2 and almost paid the ultimate price. The tin cup wasn't meant to handle the repeated heating and cooling process which caused it to crack after their second cup.
The next day they got an early start, but ran out of clean water despite rationing. Andy decided to make refills from the snow run off water which, in less than a day, had them both extremely sick. Willpower and luck got them out of the woods that weekend.
The Survival Water Filter focuses on situations like this and provides a solution in the form of a compact straw that can remove 99.9 waterborne bacteria.
Rick Canton, head of PR for Survival Hax explains the filter's Hollow-fiber UF membrane and coconut shell activated carbon has comparable filtration to in-home systems.
Canton concluded by saying:
"With camping and hiking season right around the corner we want to make sure hikers have a shot at clean water if they find themselves in a situation like Andy and Kristen."
