(SanDiego.CityRegions.Com, October 23, 2015 ) San Diego, CA -- The RUNderground, a Southern California sports media and products company today announced the upcoming launch of their new Periscope TV station, The RUNderground. The official date of the launch has yet to be reported, but is said to likely take place around the same time as the launch of their website towards the end of October.
"We are so excited to announce the launch of our new Periscope channel," Media Director, Joanne Stephens shared. "Subscribers will be able to watch each broadcast live and communicate with The RUNderground in real time through the instant messenger feature. We are coming at you with no holds barred….raw and completely accessible."
Periscope is a live video streaming application for the iOS and Android operating systems. The company was started in February of 2014 and then acquired by Twitter in January of 2015. By August of 2015, Periscope announced that it had surpassed 10 million accounts, just 4 months after launch. Periscope claims that 40 years of video is watched each day.
Periscope members record live broadcasts, called "Scopes" on mobile devices and can designate broadcasts as public or private. Tweets are sent to make viewers aware that a broadcast is live. During a broadcast, viewers can send messages and voice their approval for a broadcast by clicking a heart.
The RUNderground shared several of the show titles that will be broadcast each month. "Dust and Asphalt" will be filmed on location and feature different running destinations around the nation. "State of The RUNderground" will stream once a month and highlight company news and announcements, such as upcoming product launches. "Dime Piece" will be a short 10-part series showcasing the top 10 features of the AthleTecs, the new bone conduction headphones The RUNderground will be launching before the end of the month.
Periscope is only accessible from mobile devices and users must be members of Twitter. The Periscope application must first be downloaded from the iTunes Store or Google Play Store. An individual signs in using a chosen Twitter account and profile pic and bio migrate over. A name is given and Periscope handle is chosen. The RUNderground can be found in the search box and then added by clicking the + to the right of the name.
