(SanDiego.CityRegions.Com, April 02, 2014 ) San Diego, California -- Silicone is the latest rock star on the cooking scene. It shows up frequently on television cooking shows and a number of baking tools are made of it. And no wonder.
One of those tools is a nonstick silicone baking mat. With the more even baking temperatures achieved with a silicone baking mat there are no burned cookie bottoms or scorched underside of rolls while the tops remain half-done. And baked foods don't stick, removing the need for messy cooking sprays or expensive parchment paper.
There are three major mistakes users can make with a mat, however, Cynthia VanRooy of CrownportBakingMat.com reveals:
1) Buying the wrong size. The most common size cookie sheet sold in stores is a medium 10 x15 inches. Buyers frequently assume that the baking mats sold in the same store will fit the medium cookie sheet, but this is not usually the case. Most of the mats in the stores are too big. Crownport's mat at 9.75 x.14.75 inches is specifically designed to fit a 10 x 15 inch cookie sheet.
2) Not taking advantage of the mat's versatility. The mats are good for much more than just baking cookies, bread and rolls. Meatloaf, fish, gooey cinnamon buns all bake beautifully. Foods like buffalo wings are easier on a baking mat because the sauce doesn't burn and the mess cleans up easily.
3) Thinking the mat has to be handled with kid gloves. These baking mats can go from freezer to oven or microwave without a problem. While the mat washes easily with warm water and a soapy sponge, it can also go in the dishwasher.
To introduce their new nonstick silicone baking mat sold exclusively on Amazon, CrownportBakingMat.com is offering the mat at fifty percent of the usual price for the first three days of April only. The sale ends tomorrow at midnight.
